Sunrise

My husband is one of those early risers and he likes to take a ride to the beach and take the most amazing sunrise pictures. This is my first sunrise painting, I learned alot and cant wait to do another.

This was something new for me and a bit out of my cofort zone. Not used to using such color, thought I would enjoy it but I think I find the calm colors more my style.

I cant seem to find a blue for water that I like, Ive changed the water color many times and cant find the color that says Atlantic Ocean. This is the first bigger painting Ive done so Im proud of that .

beach buddies 8x10 canvas

Im so happy to finally be posting something. This is my son and my niece at the beach ad I am so happy to have finished this one. This was a bit over my head, I have never done people and this is my sons face so I really struggled. My husband who has an unbelievable eye for detail helped me finish this....god bless him.This was a real challenge for me but Im happy with it and I think I learned alot.
I am a huge fan of Elizabeth Blaylock and she does alot of people on beach and she does it well so please check hers out.

Need input on taking pictures

I just spent way too long trying to take a picture of a Margarita glass I painted and I just cant get a good picture. (probably a sign that I shouldnt post because it didnt go so well) I would love to hear others tricks to how they get good pictures to post. This was a 6x6 with a black background which seemed to really make it difficult. All suggestions appreciated.

Weekapaug Rocks #2 11x 14 canvas

OK so I know this looks like one I already posted but this was the original that I did in class with a trained professional. There really is a big difference. I realize that when I have someone looking over my shoulder I feel more accountable and dont rush it like I do on my own. I just wish I could have her in my pocket for when I had questions. I am working on a piece in class which is 2 children on the beach, I would have already thrown the canvas if I didnt have back up. Hope to finish on Tuesday.

I especially like what Julie said about not copying something but how it is individual interpretation...very true! That is what makes us all unique!

Thanks to all for the great suggestions....hoping to get some time to paint later and try everything out however I realized I threw out the avocado. Does anyone take photos when they do still lifes so they can go back to it or would that not work out so well. Just wondering.
